Why Self-Isolating is so Important

I know this is probably the 83758372 post you have seen about the COVID-19, but I want to personally explain why I think it is so important to self-isolate at this time. To be honest there is so much news floating around these days about Corona, but from my perspective I didn't really understand until I saw this tweet on Twitter that I can't remember at the top of my head, but it was along the lines of "you are young and may catch the virus and recover but you may pass it on to someone who can't". This tweet made me realize how ignorant and selfish of me it would be to continue to go out in large social settings (bars, restaurants, malls) that were not necessary.

When I talk about self-isolation and social distancing, it does not have to be as scary as it sounds. Again, social distancing doesn't mean you have to stop talking to everyone you know, and avoid going out ever for the foreseeable future, social distancing means stay at home but continue to engage with your family and friends. I found that while I have been in quarantine, I've had the chance to talk to my friends and family even more so because I know I am human that needs human interaction and I finally have the time to do so. This concept of social distancing means, yes you can still go for a walk in the nature, yes you can still go sit on your porch and enjoy a coffee, yes you can still go for a run outside. This self-isolation does not mean to stay cooped up in your room, which to be honest would make someone go crazy. Some suggestions on what you can do during this time can include; doing yoga, creating art, cooking, trying out a new puzzle, reading that book that has been catching dust on your night stand. There is so much you can do with this time but you can also decide to take this time to give yourself that well deserved break.

There is no cookie-cutter way of how you decide to use this time in quarantine, however, I think it is so important to not be selfish in this time. This virus is contagious and there is no way to know who you could be passing it on to if you are infected. During this time my advice is stay safe, stay home.
