DIY Pot for Plants Gift Idea

Do you have a friend's birthday coming up but have no idea what to get them? Well look no further because I have a great idea that you can make under budget! You only need a few materials and you are good to go. Before going any further I am going to list below the materials needed and links where you can buy them online.

Materials Needed:

These are the only materials you need to create these beautiful DIY pot for plants that would make a great and unique gift. With a couple of easy steps listed below find out how to recreate it

Step 1: Split the air dry clay in three long strips that are equal in length. After you do that start braiding the three strips in a simple braid. The braid would be the same way you would braid hair. Bringing one strand over the middle until you have braided all three strands together. Make sure that it is braided evenly so it is not lumpy and looks clearly braided.

Step 2: Once you have a couple of braided strands that can cover the terra cotta clay planter you can start to glue gun the braided strands on to the pot. It is important to cut any excess parts of the clay if it is not needed. You need to make sure that the entire pot is being wrapped with the air dry clay so that it looks nice.

Step 3: Usually for this project to dry it takes anywhere from 24 hours to 48 hours. The drying period can vary because of how thick the actual strands are. Reminder to not put the clay in the oven because this air dry clay and is not suitable for the oven it is specifically air dry clay.

Step 4: (Optional) If you want you can always paint your new DIY pot for plants to stand out and be unique. This is a great way to also spice up your gift idea. I suggest depending on where you place this pot you can try different colour schemes. For example, if you have a simplistic and monochromatic house you may want to stick with painting your pot black and white. However, if have a more colourful house adding gold and different colours depending on the room can really make the pot stand out.

Step 5: Put the actual plant in your new plant potter. This is a new home for your plant! Enjoy and make sure to water your plant!
